'De schildpad en de toerako' ('The Tortoise and the Toerako') :

'The Tortoise and the Toerako' is a film adaptation of a Ghanaian fable. It's about a tortoise who dreams of flying. There have been made several adaptations of the story throughout the world, I chose to stay close to the original. This means it's moral has African roots.

I am making this film with sand on a light box. Several plates of glass make it possible to work with multiple layers. I've coloured white sand with ecoline to create colourful backgrounds. Working with programs like Dragon Stop-motion, aftereffects, premiere and TVPaint, gave the traditional frame-by-frame technique a update into modern times.

Workshops:

Since 2005 I have been giving workshops to children. In the past months I started accepting companies, I'm happy to say this worked really well! Focussing more on the cooperation within the groups, working together towards one goal within a short time, made it possible to get a whole team enthusiastic about moving clay frame-by-frame in front of a camera.
